Do’s & Don’ts in Web3 Distribution

Distribution in Web3 Projects 📢
As the wise Justin Kan (@justinkan) once said, "First-time founders are obsessed with product. Second-time founders are obsessed with distribution." This statement perfectly captures the essence of today's topic: Distribution in Web3 Projects.
When launching a web3 project, one crucial question to ask yourself is: "What's my distribution trick?" This trick can make or break your journey to success by helping you secure those all-important first users. Let's explore some do’s and don’ts by Martin Tobias (@MartinGTobias)
Do’s:
Research Your Audience: Understand your target audience deeply. Know their pain points, preferences, and where they spend their time in the web3 ecosystem.
Leveraging Relationships: Selling to users or collaborating with projects you've worked with before and leveraging existing relationships can kickstart your distribution.
Leverage Web3 Communities: Engage with and contribute to web3 communities, such as forums, Discord and Telegram groups, to build trust and gain early adopters.
Offer Value First: Provide value to your users before asking for anything in return. This builds goodwill and encourages word-of-mouth referrals.
Waitlist Strategy: Having a substantial waitlist of interested users can create a buzz and drive initial adoption.
Don’ts:
Generic Ads: Relying solely on Google or Facebook ads without a unique strategy is less effective.
Unclear Traffic Source: Not tracking where your web traffic comes from, even if it's free, lacks strategic insight.
Neglect User Feedback: Don't disregard user feedback, even if it's critical. Listen to your early users; they can help you improve your product and distribution strategy.
Overcomplicate: Avoid overly complex distribution strategies. Simplicity often works best, especially in the early stages.
Lose Focus: Don't spread your efforts too thin across multiple distribution channels. Concentrate on a few that align with your target audience.

In Web3, the CEOs, CTOs, GPs, CoFounders would reply you in a couple hours.
But most of the time, the devrels, interns, absolute nobodies and the guys responsible for replying will ghost you, coz there is no accountability.
Most of y'all should work in a Web2 environment first

Lessons learned over the last few years for me, worth reflecting upon:
A minority of the population (1%<<) operates on a mental model where their convictions can push them to implement sustained behavioral changes.
The rest is almost entirely emotionally and socially driven.… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
